Kindergarten Students Visit with Mother GooseOn May 26th, the Kindergarten students were visited by Mother Goose. The children enjoyed Mother Goose sharing her love of learning and special magic. The interactive session connected multiple nursery rhymes to character education themes.
Sixth Grade Activities Luncheon The Annual Sixth Grade Activities Luncheon was held at Masso’s Caterers in Glassboro on May 22. Students serving in the student council, safety patrol, library helpers, nurse’s helpers, and counselor’s helpers programs were rewarded for their service to the school.

CLR Student Council – Sponsored Spirit WeekStudent Council sponsored a school-wide spirit week during the week of May 11. Many students and faculty enjoyed dressing up for the different themed days.
Spring Mentoring ProgramStudents involved in the school’s mentoring program enjoyed an activity after school on April 30. Those involved created motivational capes for children in the Pediatric Unit at Inspira Medical Center–Vineland. Pictured are faculty, and students involved in the mentoring program.
Counselor’s Helpers Share A Kind MessageThe Counselor Helpers have designed a method of providing CLR students with a good start to their school day by writing motivational messages on breakfast bags. The positive student-student interaction has been accomplished in conjunction with the school character development program.

Omega Man Character Education Program Visits JanvierJanvier hosted the Omega Man Character Education program on Friday, March 27th. Omega Man is a superhero who spoke to the children about the ills of bullying and the power of positive choices. The children enjoyed the interactive program.
CLR Character Development AssemblyReutter School students participated in a character development assembly in March related to setting personal goals, treating each other with respect, and anti-bullying. The assembly primarily consisted of a large screen video with similarly-aged students discussing these important concepts along with popular music being played in the background.
Holocaust Survivor AssemblyThe Jewish Federation sponsored an assembly in March where two Holocaust survivors addressed CLR sixth grade students. During the assembly, the speakers discussed their personal situations, what it was like during the Holocaust, and the effects that this tragic event has played on society. STEM Program – DissectionsSelected Reutter School students participated in an after school STEM-Dissection activity under the direction of Mr. Peters, Principal. During the activity, students learned about basic concepts in anatomy and physiology through the dissection of a fetal pig. The STEM Program has been made possible through a grant by the Exxon-Mobile Foundation.
Food Services Surveys Students’ OpinionsStudent Council members participated in an interactive meeting with Nutri-Serve Supervisors regarding the food and nutritional values of school lunches. During the meeting, students provided feedback regarding a variety of new lunch ideas that are being processed for district lunches.

The children were shown different types of seeds that are planted on their farm. They learned so much about farming in New Jersey. So many different crops are grown on local farms including some fruits and vegetables we eat every day!

Kindergarteners Explore the Polar ExpressJust before the Winter break, Kindergarten students at Mary F. Janvier Elementary participated in numerous Polar Express themed activities. Kindergarten teachers transformed the hallway into a winter scene that was complete with a blizzard of snowflakes and Polar Express train tracks. The children and their teachers had fun connecting story elements in an active, authentic manner.
Miss Gloucester County Visits Mary F. JanvierBrenna Weick, Miss Gloucester County came to discuss the importance of kindness with Janvier Second Grade students. Ms. Weick discussed the importance of volunteering with the students and read a story about kindness. Mrs. Monaghan and Mrs. Szalabofka then assisted the students in creating holiday cards, which will be delivered by Ms. Weick to children in Cooper Hospital.

Main Road 4th Graders Make Lenape Indian Coil PotsThe students in Mrs. Ciabattoni and Mrs. Ciasullo’s Social Studies class researched the Lenape Indians (Delaware Indians) of New Jersey. The class learned about the ways the Lenape Indians used natural resources in New Jersey hundreds of years ago. Students worked together to follow directions for constructing Lenape coil pottery. Main Road School Winter ConcertMain Road School’s Winter Concert was Thursday evening, December 5th at Delsea High School Auditorium. The venue was a “sell-out” with standing room only for the families attending. The students, and Mrs. Town, (Main Road’s musical director) did a wonderful job. A good time was had by all.
Cookie Crisp MathStudents take a hands-on approach to learning division. Using Cookie Crisp cereal as manipulatives, the children made the math story, The Doorbell Rang come to life.

They created scarecrows using geometric and organic shapes and then were able to write about what made their scarecrow an individual.
